Where can you find local information?
Amsterdam separates its search routes into periods: before 1905, 1905–2010 and after 2010. Start with the construction year and the dates of later alterations. The oldest records are accessed through the City Archives image collection. The municipal page also explains district-specific exceptions.
Preparing an opening in an apartment
Planning to connect two rooms? Gather the section and the floors above and below the proposed work as well as your own floor plan. Old records for subdivided buildings may use different addresses or floor names. Mark your apartment within the entire block. Record owners’ association agreements separately; structural assessment does not replace other owners’ consent.
These points help you prepare. They are not an assessment of a particular property.
Three actions to prepare your enquiry
- Record the district, address suffix and floor.
- Mark the wall on both existing and proposed plans.
- Include known previous openings elsewhere in the building.
What scope fits your proposal?
Send the records you have found together with your proposed changes. We discuss the calculations, structural drawings and any additional information required. An archive record describes a documented situation; its correspondence with the current building needs assessment. The quotation defines the work and price.
Check permits and other consents separately for the project address. Our structural approval guarantee covers additions to our own documents within the agreed scope. The municipality decides on planning and permit approval.
