From enquiry to follow-up support

Load-bearing wall process

More space between your kitchen and living room starts with understanding what the wall supports.

Load-bearing wall process — illustrative concept

Key considerations for your load-bearing wall

There is more to consider than the beam. Loads from upper storeys, bearings, any columns and the foundations beneath must be assessed together. A wall may also contribute to stability.

Start with the right documents

  • Floor plans of all relevant storeys
  • Photos of the wall and adjoining rooms
  • Proposed opening size and position
  • Available sections and previous calculations
